Philip D. Buchanan, Ph.D., non-Executive Chairman of the Board

Dr. Buchanan was the first investor in Capital Analytics and has been an enthusiastic champion of the innovative methodologies — inspired by medical research — that the company has brought to market to measure the value of human capital. As Director of GeneCare Medical Genetics Center, which he founded in 1983, he also brings to the company seasoned executive experience managing a research organization. Dr. Buchanan earned his Ph.D. in Human Genetics from North Carolina State University with post-doctoral studies completed at the University of Michigan, Harvard University and the University of Oregon. He is also certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics as a medical geneticist and clinical cytogeneticist.

Sandy Costa, Chairman of the Advisory Board

Sandy Costa was a senior executive and Board Member of Glaxo, and President/COO of Quintiles during the period when their revenues climbed from $80 million to $1.6 billion. He has a BS in pharmacy and his Juris Doctor degrees from St. John’s University. Mr. Costa sits on several public, private and non-profit Boards. In 1998, he was the recipient of the St. John’s University Alumni Outstanding Achievement Medal.

Stephen J. Bistritz, Ed.D.

Dr. Bistritz leads Atlanta sales training company SellXL. He has more than four decades of high-technology sales, sales management and training management experience dealing with companies ranging from start-ups to global leaders. He is a published author and lecturer in the field of sales, sales management and selling at the executive level. His best-selling sales book, Selling to the C-Suite, was published by McGraw-Hill in 2010. Dr. Bistritz spent 27 years at IBM where he managed and led the instructional design, development and implementation of numerous national training programs for sales, marketing and technical support personnel. He received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and a Master of Management Science from Stevens Institute of Technology. In 1995, he received a Doctorate in Human Resource Development from Vanderbilt University.

Jac Fitz-enz, Ph.D.

Jac Fitz-enz is widely regarded as the father of human capital strategic analysis and measurement. He founded the famous Saratoga Institute and published the first HR metrics in 1978 and the first international HR benchmarks in 1985. HR World cited him as one of the top five “HR Management Gurus,” IHRIM gave him its Chairman’s Award for innovation and SHRM chose him as one of the persons in the 20th Century who “significantly changed what HR does and how it does it.” He has authored 12 books, over 350 articles and trained 90,000 managers in 46 countries on strategic management and measurement. His 2010 book titled The New HR Analytics, introduced predictive analytics to HR. Dr. Jac holds degrees from Notre Dame (BA), San Francisco State (MA) and USC (Ph.D.) in organizational communications.

Julia Gomez

Julia Gomez is a global thought leader and practitioner in people strategy and focuses on how people can best contribute to bottom-line business results. She successfully built and led three critical People functions at JetBlue Airways (Employee Relations, People Analytics and Employee Engagement). Gomez is an expert in making people the top competitive advantage for any organization. She has collaborated with colleagues at companies such as Cisco, Morgan Stanley, ESPN, and Winn Dixie. Gomez received a B.A. in International Relations from Emory University with a minor in French, and is fluent in both French and Spanish. She received her Master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University. Prior to joining JetBlue, Gomez was an Airline Analyst in Equity Research at Morgan Stanley, providing investment advice to thousands of institutional clients. She also served as a mediator and arbitrator on Wall Street for the National Association of Securities Dealers.

Karen Jackson

Karen Jackson currently runs a consulting practice in Atlanta.  Formerly, she was a Director with Computer Science Corporation’s (CSC) Business Development Group in Falls Church, Virginia.  In this role, she was responsible for global improvement of sales delivery processes.  Throughout her 14-year career with the company, she was directly involved in building client relationships at the executive level, complex strategic planning and creating partnerships to facilitate long-term business success.  As an example, Ms. Jackson played an integral role in winning a $5 billion dollar opportunity for the company — an accomplishment that has yet to be duplicated.

Joan B. Troy Ontjes, Ph.D.

Dr. Ontjes is one of the early financial investors in Capital Analytics. She has also contributed to the intellectual capital of the company, leveraging her research in learning impact assessment and knowledge of applied statistics to aid in the development of the processes and software. Dr. Ontjes received her Ph.D. in Research Design and Statistics from Duke University, where she also served for seven years as a Visiting Professor and Mathematics Instructor. She holds a MAT in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and two Bachelor degrees, in Mathematics and Music, from Salem College.

Diane Paces-Wiles

Diane Paces-Wiles is principal of Alchemie Consulting, which tailors agency-caliber brand strategy, marketing and copywriting services to emerging companies. During the course of her career her work has garnered local to international recognition, including a Merit Award from ReBrand 100, which honors the world’s most effective rebranding. Diane holds a BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dean Spitzer, Ph.D.

Dr. Spitzer is an expert on performance measurement and management. He has advised companies and government agencies throughout the world and has helped over 100 organizations on five continents improve their performance. He has been a professor at 5 universities, including Boise State University, University of North Carolina, and the State University of New York and has authored 8 books, including Transforming Performance Measurement. Dr. Spitzer earned his doctorate degree from the University of Southern California and his masters from Northwestern University. He attended both undergraduate and graduate studies at the London School of Economics.

Harold Stolovitch, Ph.D., CPT

Dr. Stolovitch is Emeritus Professor of Workplace Learning & Performance, Université de Montréal and has also been a Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Visiting Professor at the University of Southern California (USC).  He is a principal of HSA LEARNING & PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS LLC, an international consulting firm.  His research and consulting activities have included projects with a wide variety of major corporations and organizations. He’s an experienced workshop leader and dynamic keynote speaker, and is the author of 15 books and nearly 200 articles and book chapters. He has won numerous awards for his contributions to the fields of Instructional and Performance Technology including the 2001 International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) Distinguished Professional Achievement award and ISPI’s highest award, Member for Life.  He is also a past president of ISPI.  Harold received the 2003 President’s Award for Lifetime Achievements from the Canadian Society for Training and Development, their highest honor.  In 2004, he and his team won the ASTD Outstanding Research Award for their work on Incentives, Motivation and Workplace Performance.

David Vance, Ph.D.

David Vance is the former President of Caterpillar University, which he founded in 2001. Until his retirement in January 2007, he was responsible for ensuring that the right education, training and leadership were provided to achieve corporate goals and efficiently meet the learning needs of Caterpillar and dealer employees. Dr. Vance has since founded Manage Learning LLC, which consults with organizations on learning and performance issues with a particular focus on launching corporate universities and designing effective strategies for managing the learning function including alignment, governance, organization and measurement. He was named 2006 CLO of the Year by CLO Magazine and 2004 Corporate University Leader of the Year by the International Quality and Productivity Council in their annual CUBIC (Corporate University Best in Class) Awards. Dr. Vance received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from M.I.T. in 1974, a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Indiana University (South Bend) in 1983, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Notre Dame in 1988.

Hugh Wrigley

Mr. Wrigley is a Managing Partner in Global Endowment Management. Prior to this, he was with the Duke University Management Company (DUMAC) where he oversaw DUMAC’s Private Investments activities, which included private capital, real estate and natural resources.  Mr. Wrigley has held executive positions in the Mergers and Strategic Advisory Group of Goldman, Sachs & Co., and Linklaters in New York and London. He began his career at Allens Arthur Robinson in Melbourne, Australia, as an associate in the Securities, Mergers and Acquisitions Group.  He has a LLB (Honors), B.Comm., from the University of Melbourne.
